Surface tension of liquid Ti, V and their binary alloys measured by electromagnetic levitation

چکیده
Abstract The surface tension of the liquid Ti-V system is systematically measured using oscillating drop technique during electromagnetic levitation. Temperature- and compositional dependence are both investigated. entire range covered. A linear decrease with increasing temperature found for pure elements as well all investigated alloys. generally increases V-content. obtained data in good agreement Butler model ideal solution. Additionally, regular solution was evaluated context data. In contrast to many other Ti-based alloys, yields no additional benefit Ti-V, since there only a neglectable small deviation between calculations Segregation effects modeled equation an findings discussed considering already existing trends mixing behavior Ti-alloys. results strongly suggest, that obeys general law.
